Every person's body has its own
craniosacral rhythm, or movement created by the pulsatile filtration
of cerebrospinal fluid, which surrounds the brain and spinal cord.
In states of dysfunction, this rhythm can become altered.
Craniosacral therapy involves the assessment of this rhythm, which
can be altered via gentle manipulation of the bones of the skull and
sacrum.
Fascial Restrictions
This type of treatment can also
release fascial restrictions. The fascia is a layer of connective
tissue that covers the entire body beneath the surface of the skin
and connects to the bones of the skull and sacrum. Injury, illness,
and pain patterns can all cause restrictions to form in the fascial
layer. Interrupting and reversing a disease process can be attained
by releasing these fascial restrictions.
Treatment
Craniosacral therapy is
exceedingly gentle and non-invasive. The craniosacral rhythm is
very subtle and therefore requires subtle palpation skills. Most
people find craniosacral sessions very relaxing and, if they are in
pain, experience some relief from pain during and after the
session. Craniosacral therapy is an ideal treatment for many
conditions, including:

• migraines
• chronic pain
• stress and tension
related conditions
• recovery from injury
• fibromyalgia
• chronic fatigue
